Today the National Academic Library is five. To celebrate the occasion of the first jubilee – there is the Day of Open Doors in the library. The tuneful melody sounds, there is the colored logotype “5 zhyl”, there are balloons everywhere, decorated reading rooms organize various exhibitions, librarians as usual welcome readers, who congratulate every librarian with the jubilee. The ceremonial music sounds. The readers welcome the Director General of the National Academic Library of RK Berdigalieva R.A., guests and all staff of the library.
UNESCO and 32 partner institutions yesterday launched the World Digital Library, a web site that features unique cultural materials from libraries and archives from around the world. The site – located at www.wdl.org – includes manuscripts, maps, rare books, films, sound recordings, prints and photographs. It provides unrestricted public access, free of charge, to this material.
As Internet inventor Tim Berners-Lee says, speed of innovations appearance in Network is increasing rapidly now. “Not everything have been done in Internet, it’s only an iceberg’s top. I am sure new changes will amaze the world still more,”- he noted.
On March 20, 2009, opening of personal exhibition of the artist Kanseit Karlygash Leskyzy took place in the National Academic Library of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The exhibition is devoted to Nauryz-meiramy.
By the decision of 30th Session of UNESCO General conference, held in 1999, World Day of Poetry is observed annually on 21 March which is aimed to facilitate developing this kind of art. UNESCO attaches great importance to poetry development as an important form of cultural self-expressing.
